Dr. Hjh Pauziah Hanum boasts an illustrious 40-year career, marked by significant contributions to environmental science, education, and regulatory practices. As an Associate Professor at Malaysia University of Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Nottingham University, her expertise spans a diverse range of environmental fields, including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Water Quality, Marine Pollution, Toxic Waste Management, and Water Restoration.
Having earned her Doctorate in Environmental Management Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia, her doctoral thesis focused on developing a knowledge-based system for river water quality management. With hands-on experience at the Department of Environment and the National Research Institute of Hydraulic of Malaysia, Dr. Hanum collaborated with various ministries, universities, and agencies. Her roles involved procedures and practices related to Malaysian Environmental Laws, EIA reviews, project approvals, monitoring of pollution, curriculum development, and advisory work for local authorities.
Her involvement as a consultative member for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Department of Environment and as an Associate Advisor for Alam Sekitar Malaysia (ASMA) showcases her commitment to environmental governance. Dr. Hanum is a certified HRDF and Asian Productivity Organization trainer in Green Technology, a testament to her commitment to sustainable practices.
Her published works, such as “Building Knowledge-Based System for River Water Quality Management” and “Ammonium Ion Trend in Selected Malaysian River,” reflect her dedication to sharing knowledge with environmental practitioners.
